NARM Prep JumpStart: Insiders Guide for Student Midwives of Color

About NARM Prep JumpStart: Insiders Guide for Student Midwives of Color

Honor Black Maternal Health Week by decreasing the impact of racism on the health of Black mothers and babies.

Your financial support will increase the number of culturally matched midwives, a proven strategy for supporting THRIVING BLACK FAMILIES.

All contributions will be used to uplift students of color, using resources from within the Black community.

********************

Black mothers and their babies are 3 to 4 times more likely to experience serious complications in birth, including death.

Midwives - especially those who look like the community they serve - can help, but California has a critical shortage of licensed midwives of color.

Every family deserves a midwife that looks like them. A group of midwives and student midwives of color and consumers in California have come together to break through the barriers that we as women of color face when joining the profession.

A group of student midwives of color, midwives of color, and consumers are launching our first program - a study course designed specifically to support student midwives of color in being successful in the NARM exam.

Thanks to donors who have contributed so far, we have funded the drafting of an evidence-based curriculum and secured a Black-owned space for the training. Your donations will help provide community meals, scholarships and travel support, childcare, and stipends for Black educators. All of your donations go towards directly supporting Black student midwives, using resources from within the Black community.
